BSB51918 Diploma of Leadership and Management

Course Description
The BSB51918 - Diploma of Leadership and Management qualification provides the skills and knowledge required to work in leadership and management roles across a range of enterprise and industry contexts.

This course is for existing leaders / supervisors wishing to formalise their skills and knowledge and achieve recognition. It is particularly suited to people looking to work as leaders and managers in high risk operational environments such as mining and construction.

Individuals at this level display initiative and judgement in planning, organising, implementing and monitoring their own workload and the workload of others. They use communication skills to support individuals and teams to meet organisational or enterprise requirements. They plan, design, apply and evaluate solutions to unpredictable problems, and identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources.

Licensing/Regulatory Information - No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

Course Content
This course requires the successful completion of 12 units of competency ( Units ).

The 12 Units must be made up of 4 Core Units plus 8 Elective Units.

BSB42015 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management

Course Description
The BSB42015 - Certificate IV in Leadership and Management qualification provides the skills and knowledge required to work as leaders and managers in a range of enterprise and industry contexts.

This course is for existing leaders / supervisors wishing to formalise their skills and knowledge and achieve recognition. It is particularly suited to people looking to work as leaders and managers in high risk operational environments such as mining and construction.

As well as assuming responsibility for their own performance, individuals working at this level provide leadership, guidance and support to others. They also have some responsibility for organising and monitoring the output of their team, apply solutions to a defined range of predictable and unpredictable problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources.

This course requires the successful completion of 12 units of competency ( Units ).

  • Complete a Pre-course Evaluation conducted by Group 314 to determine suitability for the course.
  • Have access to an operational work environment for the completion of assessment tasks.

BSB41415 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety

Course Description
The BSB41415 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety qualification provides the skills and knowledge to enable existing leaders and supervisors, or similar, to move into a Work Health and Safety ( WHS ) role.

This course is suitable for workplace roles such as:
  • Safety Officer for rail, construction and mining projects.
  • WorkCover Inspector.
  • Work Health and Safety Technician.
  • Work Health and Safety Officer.
  • Safety Representative.
  • Workplace Safety Contact.
  • Rehabilitation Coordinator.

Course Content
This course requires the successful completion of 10 units of competency ( Units ). The 10 Units may be made up of 5 Core Units plus 5 Elective Units.

The standard course offered by Group 314 includes the following Units.

  • BSBWHS403 Contribute to implementing and maintaining WHS consultation and participation processes.
  • BSBWHS404 Contribute to WHS hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control.
  • BSBWHS405 Contribute to implementing and maintaining WHS management systems.
  • BSBWHS406 Assist with responding to incidents.
Elective Units
  • BSBCMM401 Make a presentation.
  • BSBMGT401 Show leadership in the workplace.

Currency Status
Superseded. Enrolments will be accepted until August 2020 and all students will be transitioned to the equivalent replacement course, BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, when it becomes available.
