Technical Rescue – Level 1

Course Description
Group 314 has developed a program to provide civilian recognition for military members who have completed a Technical Rescue - Level 1 Course. The course has been mapped to equivalent nationally recognised units of competence.

The Technical Rescue - Level 1 Course involves the skills and knowledge required to perform vertical and confined space rescue in a range of natural and man-made environments. It requires students to:

  • Prepare and respond to rescue situations.
  • Assess rescue scenes.
  • Establish access systems.
  • Perform rescues.
  • Terminate rescues.


Course Content
This course requires the successful completion of the following units of competency:

  • PUASAR022 Participate in a rescue operation.
  • PUASAR032 Undertake vertical rescue.
  • PUASAR025 Undertake confined space rescue.


Recognition
Nationally Recognised Training (NRT) under the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF).

Certification Type
Statement of Attainment.

Course Fee
$450 ex GST.

Entry Requirements
Students must:

  • Be at least 18 years old at the time of enrolment.
  • Have an email address and access to a computer with an internet connection.
  • Complete a Pre-course Evaluation to determine suitability for the course.
  • Have successfully completed HLTAID011 Provide first aid (a Statement of Attainment must be provided).
  • Have successfully completed a Technical Rescue - Level 1 Course with the Australian Army.


Duration
2 hours (for RPL).

Training Strategy
This course is conducted using Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Students must have completed a course in Technical Rescue - Level 1 and hold a current first aid qualification.

Assessment Strategy
This course requires students to complete a variety of assessment activities.

Assessment activities include:

  • Knowledge assessments (for each unit).
  • File submission - First Aid Certificate.
  • File submission - Record of Attainment (ROA).
