About Caving

Caving is a rewarding activity because it helps to develop individual and group qualities such as:

Some of the memorable experiences from caving include:

  • Seeing cave formations such as stalactites, stalagmites, columns, and flowstones.
  • Observing bats in their natural environment.

Whilst there are caves in many locations across Australia, the typical caving areas normally used by Group 314 include:

  • Wee Jasper, NSW.
  • Bungonia, NSW.
  • Buchan, VIC.

Caving can be undertaken all year round.

Only strong rainfall may interfere with some caving activities.

All equipment technical equipment is provided by Group 314, including:

  • Overalls.
  • Helmet.
  • Headlamp.
  • Caving pack.
  • Ropes and associated equipment for abseiling and climbing (if required).
