How often should I undertake first aid training?
The Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) recommends 'HLTAID011 Provide first aid' be refreshed every 3 years. Some organisations may have their own certification requirements, or you may be in a workplace role that has a regulatory requirement for recertification.
How often do I need to undertake CPR training?
The ARC recommends CPR (HLTAID009) be refreshed every 12 months.
Does the unit 'HLTAID011 Provide first aid' include CPR?
Yes. 'HLTAID011 Provide first aid' includes all the skills, knowledge, and assessment requirements as 'HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)'. HLTAID009 is embedded within HLTAID011.

HLTAID009 can be completed as a standalone unit, in which case you would receive a certificate listing the unit. If HLTAID011 has been completed then there is no need to separately list CPR, it is already embedded. HLTAID011 meets the CPR competency requirements.
Ideally, your first aid competencies would be completed over successive years in the following way:
