Adventurous Training Support – 2025

Introduction

Group 314 is preparing for an adventurous training program in November 2025 and are searching for additional casual staff to provide support. The program is unique; it is conducted as an adventure race with staff providing training and supervision, not group leadership.

Qualifications

Staff require Certificate IV in Outdoor Leadership with competency in one or more of the following:

  • Abseiling
  • Climbing
  • Caving
  • Abseiling
  • Canoeing
  • Kayaking
  • Rafting

In addition, staff require Wilderness First Aid, WWCC, and Police Check.

Having a manual driving licence is desirable, but not essential.

Dates

The dates for the program are:

  • 17-21 November 2025
  • 24-28 November 2025
  • 1 December 2025

Whilst it is preferred that staff can assist with the whole program, it is not essential.

Some staff will not be required for all five days of the blocks.

Location

Wee Jasper, NSW.

Working Hours

The program generally runs from 6.00am to 10.00pm each day (Tue, Wed, Thu). This places a significant strain on staff, so we are making it a priority to limit working hours of casual staff to no more than 12 hours per day (unless otherwise negotiated).

The start and finish times for each day will vary for individuals, depending on their allocated role.

Meals

Fresh rations are supplied, and all dietary requirements are catered for. Staff will prepare their own meals. BBQs are available at the campground as well as gas cannisters for personal cookers.

Accommodation

All staff camp at the Wee Jasper campground. Personal camper vans are acceptable. Tents and other camping equipment can be provided for those in need (such as interstate personnel flying to NSW).

Pay

Remuneration is:

  • $35 per hour plus superannuation (not day rates)
  • $100 per day arduous duties allowance
  • Travel allowance if self-driving

All Group 314 employees (including casuals) can access any public scheduled Group 314 outdoor leadership courses at no charge. This includes Wilderness First Aid and other technical courses such as Swiftwater Rescue and Vertical Rescue (there is a Wilderness First Aid course scheduled for 10-12 Sep 25 at Bungonia).

Interstate Staff

Whilst local staff are preferred, personnel from interstate are considered. Interstate personnel will have their flights provided as well as transport to and from the airport (normally Canberra or Wagga Wagga).
