Develop skills on Abseilng single pitch on natural surfaces.
This hands-on program is designed to develop your competency to abseil on natural surfaces (single pitch).
This program focuses on developing your skills to safely and effectively abseil on natural surfaces single pitch.
The course will use a variety of campsites. Students are to bring their own camping equipment and rations.
Abseiling equipment will be provided (ropes, carabiners, helmet, harness, etc).
Students may bring personal equipment, but it must pass an inspection by Group 314 prior to use.
Course Information
This course requires the successful completion of:
- SISOABS003 Abseil single pitches, natural surfaces
- SISOABS006 Establish ropes for single pitch abseiling on natural surfaces
The course content is:
- Day 1 - Demonstration activity, theory, knot craft, and equipment.
- Day 2 - Anchors and establishing ropes.
- Day 3 - Anchors and establishing ropes.
- Day 4 - Assessment.
- Day 5 - Assessment.
Training is provided using practical sessions whilst conducting abseil activities on natural surfaces (single pitch).
Statement of Attainment.
Nationally Recognised Training (NRT) under the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF).
Students are required to be employed in an Outdoor Leadership role and have prior skills and knowledge in roping and outdoor guiding. They will therefore have experience that qualifies as RPL. RPL will be assessed and supplemented by gap and/or refresher training as required.

This course requires students to complete a variety of assessment activities.
- Written Knowledge Assessment (2).
- Competency Observation (3).
- Skills Assessment(2).
Wee Jasper (or other suitable abseil sites).
Students must:
- Be at least 18 years old at the time of enrolment.
- Have an email address and access to a computer with an internet connection.
- Complete a Pre-course Evaluation conducted by Group 314 to determine suitability for the course.
- Previous experience in ropework.
- Have the physical ability to abseil on natural surfaces.
