Step into the wild with confidence through Group 314’s Bushwalking course.
This course involves a set of skills to complete walks in any type of environment including bushland, arid, alpine or tropical areas and according to planned routes.
This comprehensive program equips you with the essential skills to tackle walks across diverse environments—whether it's lush bushland, arid deserts, rugged alpine terrains, or tropical landscapes. Learn to navigate, plan, and adapt your approach to different terrains, ensuring you’re prepared for any adventure.
The course will use a variety of campsites. Students are to bring their own camping equipment and rations.
Bushwalking equipment will be provided (backpacks, poles, ropes, compasses etc).
Students are required to bring their own camping equipment and clothing.
Students may bring personal equipment, but it must pass an inspection by Group 314 prior to use.
Course Information
This course requires the successful completion of:
- SISOBWG002 Bushwalk in difficult tracked environments.
- SISOFLD007 Navigate in difficult tracked environments.
The course content is:
- Day 1 - Demonstration activity, equipment, walking techniques, planning.
- Day 2 - Skill development, navigation.
- Day 3 - Bushwalk and assessment.
- Day 4 - Bushwalk and assessment.
- Day 5 - Bushwalk and assessment.
Training is provided using practical sessions whilst conducting bushwalking activities in difficult tracked environments.
Statement of Attainment.
Nationally Recognised Training (NRT) under the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF).
Students are required to be employed in an Outdoor Leader role and have prior skills and knowledge in bushwalking. They will therefore have experience that qualifies as RPL. RPL will be assessed and supplemented by gap and/or refresher training as required.

This course requires students to complete a variety of assessment activities.
- Written Knowledge Assessment (2).
- Competency Observation (6).
- Skills Assessment(2).
Wee Jasper (or other suitable bushwalking areas).
Students must:
- Be at least 18 years old at the time of enrolment.
- Have an email address and access to a computer with an internet connection.
- Complete a Pre-course Evaluation conducted by Group 314 to determine suitability for the course.
- Physical ability to bushwalk.
