Canyoning is growing in popularity with new canyons being discovered throughout Australia. Typical areas normally used by Group 314 include:
- Blue Mountains, NSW.
- Bungonia, NSW.
Canyoning is possible all year round, but winter in the Blue Mountains can be very cold. The usual canyoning season is typically from November to March.
Canyoning activities can be affected by storms, high rainfall, extreme temperatures, or bushfires.
All technical equipment is provided by Group 314, including:
- Wetsuit.
- Waterproof jacket.
- Harness and helmet.
- Technical roping equipment (ropes, descender, carabiners, etc.).
- Pack.
- Headlamp.
Participants must provide:
- Clothing for bushwalking.
- Thermals.
- Beanie / sunhat.
- Shoes (sturdy water shoes or old runners).
