Swiftwater Rescue Technician

Develop the skills to sucessfully undertake swiftwater and floodwater rescues and recoveries as a member of a specialist team.

The Swiftwater Rescue Technician course is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge to perform rescues in fast-moving water environments.

Designed for emergency service personnel who may be required to use a range of rescue techniques within a swiftwater and floodwater environment.

Through hands-on training and expert instruction, you’ll develop the skills and knowledge required to safely and effectively undertake swiftwater rescues for a range of emergency scenarios.

The course is conducted in the field on a suitable river that has moving water and a location for the safe practice of skills. The training often requires students to camp overnight in an area close to the river.

Where possible, students will undertake a river trip to maximise their experience with swiftwater. A river trip will involve being professionally guided in a white water raft down suitable stretchers of a river.
