Our Communications in Business course is designed to build your competency in communicating effectively within a business environment, essential for anyone in a leadership or management role.
This course covers key units such as BSBXCM401 Apply Communication Strategies in the Workplace and BSBLDR412 Communicate Effectively as a Workplace Leader, equipping you with the skills to navigate complex interactions, convey ideas clearly, and lead with confidence in an office setting.
Course Information
This course develops competency to communicate in a business environment. It is for workers in a leadership and management role within an office environment.
This course requires the successful completion of:
- BSBXCM401 Apply communication strategies in the workplace.
- BSBLDR412 Communicate effectively as a workplace leader.
The course content is:
- Day 1 - Communication theory and strategies.
- Day 2 - Writing business documents.
- Day 3 - Using MS Word and spreadsheets.
- Day 4 - Verbal communications / presentations.
- Day 5 - Using field communication devices such as radios and satellite devices.
Nationally Recognised Training ( NRT ) under the Australian Quality Training Framework ( AQTF ).
Training is provided using a mix of theory and practical sessions whilst developing communication skills in a business environment.
Students are required to be employed in a leadership and management role and have prior skills and knowledge working in business environment. They will therefore have experience that qualifies as RPL. RPL will be assessed and supplemented by gap and/or refresher training as required.

This course requires students to complete a variety of assessment activities.
- Written Knowledge Assessment (2).
- Competency Observation (3).
- Skills Assessment(2).

Students must:
- Be at least 18 years old at the time of enrolment.
- Have an email address and access to a computer with an internet connection.
- Have very good language, literacy and numeracy skills.
- Have Microsoft Office (or equivalent) including Word, Excel and Powerpoint and the ability to use these programs.
- Complete a Pre-course Evaluation conducted by Group 314 to determine suitability for the course.
- Have recent and credible business / industry experience.
- Have access to workplace Work Health and Safety systems.
- Have access to workplace policies and procedures.
This course requires students to complete a variety of assessment activities.
Assessment activities include:
- Written Knowledge Assessments.
- Assignments.
- Third Party Evidence.
Students will participate in a range of realistic scenarios.
